Herbs from God’s Garden - Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) Part 1

Red Clover is a great herbal ally to have in every garden regardless of where you live.

Red Clover is a food, part of the legume family and an herb.

The plant is mineral rich, high in calcium, and nourishes the hormonal and nervous system.

Red Clover is also great for the blood and the skin, and will promote fertility when combined with Red Raspberry.

Years back, while apprenticing as an Herbalist, there was a member of our class that was trying to get pregnant. She tried everything and nothing was working. It was suggested that she drink a cup Red Clover and Red Raspberry tea. The member took the suggestion and soon became pregnant!

In many places, you can find Red Clover growing wild on the side of the road or in fields.

In Florida, the best place to grow Red Clover from seed is in large pots, facing east. The sun is not as intense in the morning as it is in the evening.

Early spring is when Red Clover flowers and shines in my garden.

The Unchangeable Nature of God

Each day, one has a choice to put on the whole armor of God.

One of the gifts we have in our own personal tool box, and at our disposal is prayer.

Through the power of prayer, one can move a muscle, change a thought, and allow the power of heaven and God to respond to “O’ Lord, hear my prayer and let my cry come unto you!”

Prayer will open the door for you to “put on every piece of God's armor” so you will be able to resist darkness when it tries to knock you down, and interfere with your spiritual walk.

How do I know this?
There is fruit in prayer.
It is during the times of trial and tribulation that one can see the fruit of prayer, and know how far one has come in her/his prayer life.
It is in the daily task of praying that we trust in God to take care of the details.
If this is the day my life changes, questions such as “Am I ready?” “Do I have trust in God?”
There is no choice, only change, and with change the constant in life is prayer.
Jesus says, “Give me your pain of being a spiritual pilgrim during these changing times. Give me your baggage of life and your burdens. I will carry them for you just as I carried my cross.” (30 Messages of Hope, Message #1 Prayer, Page 8)

If you embrace all that which is dark and negative that is what you will have in your life.
If you embrace all that is of God then your life will take on true meaning.
You will be able to see the sunrise before the storm, with spiritual tools and God-given gifts in hand.
You can and will survive, and function in this new world, in a new way.
The old way of life, the old way creating abundance has changed.
The way one labors has changed.
Flow with the changes and embrace the tools of life.
Come and take my hand, we have a planet to rebuild, lives to restore and hope for a better tomorrow!

Leave It All at the Cross!

Remember the story of Naaman the commander of the Syrian army?
Naaman was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper.
Naaman was told of a prophet in Israel (his foe) that could heal him of his malady.
The King of Syria sent gifts and a letter to the King of Israel on Naaman’s behalf to have an audience with the prophet, Elisha.
In response, The King of Israel tore his clothing.
When Elisha, the prophet heard that the king had torn his clothing said to him, "Why have you torn your clothes? Let him come now to me, that he may know that there is a prophet in Israel."
So Naaman came with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha's house.
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean."
Naaman had a big ego and refused the messenger.
Naaman wanted the prophet to speak to him personally.
He complained about washing in the Jordan stating, “Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?"
Finally, a few of Naaman’s servants convinced him to dip into the water, and Naaman did.
When Naaman came out of the water after the seventh wash, he was clean and made whole.
The miracle working power of God manifested itself and proved to Naaman and others that God can do all things.
Seven is a masterful number and represents completion.
What is that you wish to complete or accomplish in your life?
Is there something or someone you wish to be free of or healed of?
Enter into a time of prayer and meditation, remembering Jesus, as he makes his way to Golgotha.
This is your opportunity to leave everything at the Cross, dip into the water and be made whole! Amen!

God's Promise

Here is a promise from God to sustain us in the midst of any storm:
“I love you from the depth of my being, from infinity. You cannot measure my love for you. It is greater, wider and longer than any measuring stick. I cannot and will not stop loving you”. (Our Table Connection: Breaking Bread Together, page 24)

Lenten Journey Prayer & Forgiveness

Prayer is a necessary component in the life of a believer.
Sometimes, we pray because of a situation or circumstance.
It is more important to pray through a situation or circumstance with God, rather than trying micromanage the drama of life on your own.
Perhaps you are praying about a health issue.
As you think about your health, when did the problem begin?
Is there someone with whom you are angry or bitter against?
Do you carry resentment in your heart?
“The healing of the body is accompanied by repentance and forgiveness of sin.”
Who is at fault?
Who do you need to forgive?
Ponder these questions and come back next week for Part 2 of the "Lenten Journey of Prayer and Forgiveness" as we take a look at the story of Jesus and the lame man found in the Book of John.

Praying Well Through Lent: The Deep Things of God

As we approach this ‘Season of Lent’, we are to search the deep things of God.
We are required to go deep for 40 days, like a runner chasing a ball.
Are you contemplating changes in your life?
Place all your burdens on the Lord and enter this Lenten Season expecting definite results.
When you enter the deep, quiet places of God, “Go into the closet, and shut the door. Pray to your heavenly Father in secret”.
Oswald Chambers, in his book, My Utmost for His Highest, explains going to pray with the Father this way:
“Jesus did not say - Dream about thy Father in secret, but pray to thy Father in secret. Prayer is an effort of will. After we have entered our secret place and have shut the door, the most difficult thing to do is to pray; we cannot get our minds into working order, and the first thing that conflicts is wandering thoughts. The great battle in private prayer is the overcoming of mental wool-gathering. We have to discipline our minds and concentrate on willful prayer.
We must have a selected place for prayer and when we get there the plague of flies begins - This must be done, and that. "Shut thy door." A secret silence means to shut the door deliberately on emotions and remember God. God is in secret, and He sees us from the secret place; He does not see us as other people see us, or as we see ourselves. When we live in the secret place it becomes impossible for us to doubt God, we become more sure of Him than of anything else. Your Father, Jesus says, is in secret and nowhere else. Enter the secret place, and right in the center of the common round you find God there all the time. Get into the habit of dealing with God about everything. Unless in the first waking moment of the day you learn to fling the door wide back and let God in, you will work on a wrong level all day; but swing the door wide open and pray to your Father in secret, and every public thing will be stamped with the presence of God”.
Get ready to go deep. Amen.

Asking for Help

In the Book of James, Chapter 5, verses 13-15, James writes, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him.”
We know James is describing one who is ill, or out of sorts.
Perhaps, this passage relates to you.
Maybe, you are suffering from a physical malady, or you are distressed about a situation going on in your life.
You qualify for God’s help. Why?
As a 'Child of God', you have a right to be here and a right to ask for help.
In every situation, steps need to be taken in order to assist one in need, and that's you!
However, as one in need, the first step is asking for help from others. We are not equipped to carry the burdens of this life alone.
In this case, the help you need is prayer.
This week take the plunge and ask someone you trust to stand in the gap and pray for you!

Jesus Come Into My Heart

Dawn of a New Day

Do you seek to start over in your life? Are you limiting yourself in any way, shape or form?
When you limit yourself you limit God? Are you searching for something new? Look no further. Take a few moments out of your day to experience the promise in the today of tomorrow.
Do not be disturbed by unusual sights or sounds. These are the signs of the times that we live in.
Sometimes one must endure the darkness of night to embrace the Dawn of a New Day.
Do not be dismayed nor discouraged for the Lord, your God has you in his sights.
In the midst of all the visions, sounds and changes, remember, there is no limitation in God.
Instead of hugging your problems, hug God. With your arms crossed and fingertips touching each shoulder, imagine that God is putting his arms around you. Can you feel his presence?
Don’t delay. Take God’s hand, cross the threshold of life, open the door and look to the east.
When the dawn appears on the horizon, you are opening your spiritual eyes for the first time.
It is in the center of one’s eye, between opening and closing, the greatness and vastness of the universe and the touch of God’s hand will come into focus.
Joy does come in the morning, especially at dawn.
It is the sound of the birds or the whispering wind that remind us of the magnitude of creation that surrounds us.
It is the dawning of a new day, a promise in the today of tomorrow that brings hope to one lost in the sea of despair or sorrow.
Soon the sorrow or trauma of the evening soon passes out of sight and in its place is the mighty joy that begins to shine in the east.
Always, Thank God for all the goodness that will bear fruit this day!

Dawn of a New Day!

Just as the plants awaken in the spring, so do we.
It is a calling from deep within the soul, a transition.
Plant the seeds of inspiration and hope. Put your ideas into action, stand tall and proud.
This is your new dawn and new beginning.

Wait and See What God Will Do

Earlier in the spring, I was in the garden looking at all the damage the cold weather had brought.

I had two plants that I was concerned about: a wonderful Lemon Tree that was full of blooms and ready to give me many lemons, and a Sea Grape plant. Both plants were affected by the cold snaps of the past winter.

As I was beginning the clean-up process of spring, I wandered over to the Lemon Tree. I was going to dig it up and throw it away. I heard the Lord say, “Wait!” “Wait and see what I will do.” I listened and waited to see what God would do.

God did something; my Lemon Tree that was withering away suddenly came back to life.

I went outside everyday gave the tree a little water, and before my eyes the Lemon Tree began to regenerate with new life.

I had the same experience with the Sea Grape plant.

There was no life in the small stalk that was left sticking out of the dirt. In fact, the plant looked pitiful.

I was going to dig up the Sea Grape and once again, I heard the Lord say, “Wait and see what I will do”.

I watered the small stalk everyday and waited.

After a month or so of watering and waiting, I began to notice a small leaf poking up through the dirt.

I was thrilled with the small miracle that happened in my garden.

I thought to myself, “If God can attend to the small matters of nature, he certainly can operate in all areas of life.”

We are in a season of “Wait and see what God will do.”

This is the time of new beginnings. Everything regenerates and rebuilds, “for everything there is a season.”

For those of you who are in a season of “Wait and See What God Will do, May these words give you hope and comfort:

“Hope is the spark that glistens on the top of the Gulf of Mexico, as the sun sets on the western horizon.

Drop the Robe of Negativity

Be all you are called to be in this life.
Do not allow the opinion or negativity of another to hold you back.
Even spaces can hold negativity because people are fearful and have lost all hope.
When you encounter one who is so negative, bless the being and path he or she is on.

Jesus said, "If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave."

Deliver Me O' Lord

I must crucify the old and resurrect with the new. This is a time of re-birth, a time to be re-born in the Spirit and to be free in Christ.

Old limitations, lies or false beliefs lose their hold.
